Jeddah Trail Runners (JTR) Terms and Condition

1. Membership Eligibility

  • Membership is open to individuals who are passionate about trail running and meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years.

  • All members must complete the registration form and agree to these terms and conditions.

2. Membership Review and Verification

  • All registrations are subject to review and verification by JTR.

  • Members will be notified via email once their registration is confirmed.

3. Membership Fees

  • Annual membership fees are non-refundable and must be paid in full at the time of registration.

  • Membership fees include a JTR logo shirt

4. Code of Conduct

  • Members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times.

  • Any form of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in termination of membership.

5. Participation in Events

  • Members are encouraged to participate in JTR events and activities.

  • Members must adhere to all event rules and guidelines provided by JTR.

6. Health and Safety

  • Members are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit to participate in trail running activities.

  • Members must disclose any medical conditions that may affect their participation.

  • JTR is not liable for any injuries or health issues that may arise during participation in events.

7. Use of Personal Information

  • Personal information collected during registration will be used solely for the purposes of managing membership and organizing events.

  • JTR will not share personal information with third parties without the member’s consent.

8. Photography and Media

  • By participating in JTR events, members consent to being photographed and recorded.

  • JTR reserves the right to use photographs and recordings for promotional purposes.

9. Learning Requirement

  • Members are required to learn the basics of trail running as provided by JTR on its website.

  • This includes understanding trail running techniques, safety guidelines, and best practices.

10. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

  • JTR reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.

  • Members will be notified of any changes via email.

11. Termination of Membership

  • JTR reserves the right to terminate membership for any breach of these terms and conditions.

  • Members may terminate their membership at any time by notifying JTR in writing.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Respect the Trails and Nature

    • Stay on marked trails to minimize environmental impact.

    • Practice Leave No Trace principles: carry out all trash and avoid disturbing wildlife.

    • Do not pick plants or disturb natural features.

  2. Safety First

    • Always inform someone of your running route and expected return time.

    • Run with a buddy whenever possible.

    • Carry sufficient water, snacks, and a first aid kit.

    • Be prepared for changing weather conditions.

  3. Trail Etiquette

    • Yield to other trail users: hikers, cyclists, and equestrians.

    • Announce your presence when approaching others from behind.

    • Uphill runners have the right of way; step aside for them.

    • Be courteous and friendly to all trail users.

  4. Group Runs

    • Arrive on time for group runs and events.

    • Follow the designated route and stay with the group.

    • Respect the pace set by the group leader.

    • Split into smaller groups if the trail is crowded to minimize impact.

  5. Environmental Stewardship

    • Participate in trail maintenance and clean-up activities.

    • Report any trail damage or hazards to the group leaders.

    • Avoid running on muddy trails to prevent erosion.

  6. Health and Fitness

    • Ensure you are physically prepared for the trail run.

    • Listen to your body and do not push beyond your limits.

    • Seek medical advice if you have any health concerns before running.

  7. Communication

    • Use the designated communication channels for group updates and announcements.

    • Respect privacy and do not share personal information without consent.

    • Report any issues or concerns to the group leaders promptly.

  8. Inclusivity and Respect

    • Treat all members with respect and kindness.

    • Encourage and support fellow runners, regardless of their skill level.

    • Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

  9. Event Participation

    • Register for events in advance if required.

    • Follow all event-specific rules and guidelines.

    • Respect the decisions of event organizers and volunteers.

  10. Navigation Skills

    • Runners should be able to navigate the trails using maps, GPS devices, or other tools.

    • Familiarize yourself with the route before the run.

    • In case of getting lost, stay calm, retrace your steps, and use your navigation tools to find your way back.

  11. Use of JTR Name

    • Runners are encouraged to use the Jeddah Trail Runners (JTR) name when joining race events.

    • Represent the group with pride and uphold the values and spirit of JTR.

  12. Support Fellow Members

    • Members should support and encourage each other during trail runs.

    • Offer assistance to fellow runners in need, whether it’s sharing water, providing motivation, or helping navigate the trail.

    • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and supported.

  13. Best Practices During Trail Running

    • Maintain good form: keep your eyes on the trail ahead, shorten your stride, and keep your shoulders relaxed.

    • Be prepared: carry essential gear such as water, snacks, a light source, and a first aid kit.

    • Warm up properly: spend at least five to ten minutes warming up before hitting the trails.

    • Respect the environment: follow trail etiquette and Leave No Trace principles to minimize your impact on nature.

  14. Waiver and Release of Liability

    • All members must sign a waiver and release of liability form before participating in any group runs or events.

    • This form acknowledges the inherent risks of trail running and releases the group from liability for any injuries or accidents that may occur.
