π Important Notes for New Trail Runners Joining JTR
Welcome to Jeddah Trail Runners! Trail running is about adventure, endurance, safety, and enjoying the outdoors. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please take note of the following:
β° Arrive Early
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for the briefing, warm-up, and route overview.
πΊοΈ Download the GPX Route
All runners, especially first-time participants, should download the GPX route before the run.
Upload it to your watch or phone using apps such as Garmin, Coros, Suunto, Strava, or Gaia GPS.
Do not rely solely on following other runners, as groups often spread out on the trail.
If you find yourself off-route, stop, check your GPX, and contact the organizers if needed.
π§ Carry Enough Hydration
Bring sufficient water based on the distance and weather conditions.
Consider carrying electrolytes, especially during warmer runs.
π Wear Proper Trail Running Shoes
Trail shoes provide better grip and stability on rocks, sand, and uneven terrain.
Proper footwear helps reduce the risk of slips and injuries.
π Come Prepared
Carry a fully charged mobile phone.
Bring energy gels, snacks, or nutrition for longer runs.
A small running vest or hydration pack is recommended.
πΆββοΈ Hike When Necessary
Walking or power hiking steep climbs is normal, even for experienced trail runners.
Focus on effort management rather than speed.
π€ Stay With the Group
Respect the lead and sweep runners.
Inform an organizer if you plan to stop, turn back, or leave early.
β οΈ Watch Your Footing
Trails can be rocky, sandy, loose, and uneven.
Stay alert, especially during descents.
π± Respect the Trail
Leave no trash behind.
Respect nature, wildlife, and other trail users.
π Run Your Own Pace
Don't worry about being the fastest.
Focus on completing the route safely and building confidence on the trails.
π Most Importantly, Have Fun
Trail running is about friendship, learning, adventure, and challenging yourself.
Support your fellow runners and enjoy the journey.
JTR Golden Rule:
"Take care of yourself, look out for your fellow runners, and always carry the GPX route. Getting stronger is optional, getting lost is not!" ππββοΈπββοΈπͺ
